Ahead of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, China Media Group (CMG), together with major media organisations from several African countries, launched the China-Africa Media Action initiative on 14 October. The initiative received support from around fifty African media organisations.
Marking the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, CGTN and more than 40 media outlets from 24 African countries developed documentaries, television programmes and integrated media activities around China-Africa cooperation. CMG said the new initiative would deepen media exchanges, joint production and distribution of documentaries and other multimedia content, encourage new cooperation mechanisms and support innovation in Chinese and African media.
AUB Director General Grégoire Ndjaka expressed support for the initiative, saying it could stimulate the development of Chinese and African media and the joint production of high-quality content. Media and public officials from Burundi, Chad and Senegal also highlighted opportunities for programme exchange, training and greater cultural understanding.
